PEOPLE/LOT´S OF PEOPLE - By Ingvild Isaksen

The video is from a performance of PEOPLE at Dansens hus in Oslo in May 2017
People have an inlaid feeling that they have the ability to predict the future, or if they see patterns they have a built in feeling that they’re meaningful, and a built in feeling that they can control things. – Leonard Mlodinow
People was born from the interview That’s so random! with Leonard Mlodinow. The interview describes how people naturally want to give meaning to what they see. Put together with a structure inspired by Rudolf Laban’s A-scale it has resulted in a confusing, hypnotizing, bizarre and occasionally frantic piece where the dancers persistently explore patterns in and around the space.
Now the piece has grown up to be a full evening site specific performance with as many as 18 performers! Hence the new title Lots of People.
